Parking meters down, emergency repairs under way

The Transport Department on Tuesday said that the parking meter system had broken down, with emergency repairs now under way. The department said it received a report from the operator at about 8.20am that the system had malfunctioned. It said it has instructed the operator to carry out the necessary repairs as soon as possible to minimise the impact on motorists, and to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident and submit a report.
