Lithium-ion battery fire keeps hundreds of homes under evacuation orders for second day

Roughly 200 homes remained under evacuation orders in La Verne on Wednesday as fire crews continued to work to stabilize lithium-ion batteries burning inside the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California facility, authorities said.
